MANILA, Philippines -- A 23-year-old college student is facing a formal complaint for voyeurism after allegedly taking upskirt photos of a store owner inside a shop in Muntinlupa City.
Closed-circuit television footage captured the suspect positioning his mobile phone beneath the skirt of a Korean store owner in Barangay Putatan while she was assisting him with an order.
The victim confronted the suspect and reviewed the CCTV footage before seeking assistance from local barangay personnel. Police confirmed that the case has been referred to the Muntinlupa City Prosecutor's Office for inquest proceedings. The suspect faces charges under Republic Act 9995, or the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009.
Local police reported that the suspect was apprehended after the victim caught him secretly taking photos underneath her clothing using a mobile phone. Witnesses and security personnel immediately intervened and turned over the suspect to responding authorities.
Police officers confiscated the suspect's mobile device for forensic investigation. The suspect is now under police custody and faces charges related to photo and video voyeurism under existing laws.
